New Accounts Enabled – 14 Sep 2009

New accounts are now enabled. The performance issue regarding the database access software has been vastly improved so the plan is to leave new account creations enabled for 48 to 72 hours. It will depend on the load that the server experiences. At this point anybody desiring a new account is recommended to create it before Wednesday.

A note to those handful of people that have had their accounts removed.

The same thing will happen if you create a new account and use it to send malicious traffic to SIP Providers or if you bombard the SIP Sorcery server with extremely high volumes of traffic.

(Chinese translation of same message, thanks to Google):

A到那些已经在其帐户中删除一小撮人注意,同样的事情会发生在当你创建一个新的帐户,并用它来发送恶意流量,园区供应商,或如果你轰击的SIP法术交通服务器。

Thanx Aaron for lifting temporarily. Can I make a new account to use for another hardware SIP (Ipod touch) as to not conflict that binding with my already established binding to my home ATA?

    Thanx,

    Synchron

If you really want a second account then we won’t prevent you but would request that you check if there is a solution that only needs a single account first. Don’t forget you can create as many SIP accounts, SIP Providers and dialplans as you want all within one sipsorcery account.

      Regards,

      Aaron

Hi Aaron – looks like there is no need to create another account as I found from the forums that I can make another SIP account to handle additional SIP hardware.

        Thanks,

        Synchron

        human translation:

        一小撮人账户被撤消掉的用户请注意:
        如果你们创建新的帐户,并用它来恶意发送流量到SIP供应商,或者用特别大的流量轰炸SIPSORCERY服务器,你们会得到相同的结果–账户被撤消。

WOW the graph looks impressive when compared to the one you shared last week. Not sure how it affects SIPSorcery & is the value in “X” axis is, but looks like you are still hitting 80%+ mark often and this is an indicates that you’ll hit your steady 100% utilization soon.

However I’m not conversant with Server Cloud configuration and my “rule of thumb” theory might be outdated.

The consequence of high CPU utilisation for sipsorcery are things like registrations getting dropped and slow dialplan execution. For a lot of applications you’d be correct in saying that a regular spike to 80% would be concerning. In sipsorcery’s case it’s nothing to worry about, the average CPU utilisation is more significant than the peak usage. Processing a single Ruby dialplan can often spike the CPU to 80% depending on what else is happening.

Because that’s how SIP works. It’s worth warning you that the sipsorcery service is complicated and not the right answer if you just want calls to work with the least amount of fuss. If you want to understand what’s going on there’s a bit of reading to do. A good place to start is http://www.mysipswitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1606.

I understand its complicated . I just really wanted to know if it was supposed to call back or complete the call from the sipsorcery ata phone ,or if it was normal to get a fast busy ,hang up and let it ring the other phone connected to a different ata ?

            AAron .
I appreciate all your work for us . I have spent hours reading the forums . I got sipsorcery working by registering my sipgate numbers one one fxs port of my ata . I have a GV number forwarding to that sipgate number . On the other port of the ATA I rtegistered a sisorcery account with a basic gv dial plan of gv login password sipgate # and gv # . I then registered a gizmo account as sip provider in sipsorcery and when i dial a number on that line it rings twice , goes fast busy and also rings the sipgate number . I then hangup the sipsorcery line ,pickup the sipgate GV line ans within 2 or 3 seconds it starts to ring and connects the call . I cant figure out how the gizmo account that is not even related to the GV sipgate acct is doing this . When I tried registering the sipgate acct ,it did not work .
